Equipment – High School Boys
With spring right around the corner we wanted to get a quick resource up for families that are looking to make sure their athletes have all the right gear for this coming season.
If you want to dig into what USA Lacrosse lays out for equipment here is a link to their equipment page and here is a link for the update to boys chest protectors for the 2022 season.
Throughout our club many players have had good experiences with certain brands and to make the process of trying to find gear easier there are a few key links below.
Sticks:
For stick recommendations recommend starting with complete sticks (shaft + head + pre-strung). As your player gets more experience we recommend they learn to restring their head because after a period of play the mesh will stretch and lacing will loosen slightly. Keeping “the pocket” consistent by adjusting the mesh will result in more consistent play.
For HS boys playing a short stick position (attack, mid) Powell has two great options. Either the Switchback or for physical players looking for a little more durability the Delmont.
Chest protector:
For the 2022 season there are updates to the rules that require all players to have chest protectors that meet the ND200 standard.
For players in attack or mid positions we recommend the Maverik M5.
For defense players we recommend the Maverik M5 for defenders.
Helmets:
The club has offered group buys previously and expects to again in late summer (August) for the fall season and again at (Nov) Christmas for the Cascade XRS helmet. If you’d like to purchase prior, please contact a coach to get information about matching the clubs color scheme.
Gloves:
Player preference dictates a wide variety of options. Any reputable brand in white/black/grey color scheme is great! Brands – Maverick, STX, TRUE, Warrior are recommend.
